Suffolk Senior STAR Exemption Deadline

Proprty Tax

March 1, 2022.  That is the deadline for Suffolk County Seniors to file for Senior and Enhanced STAR property tax reductions. This deadline is absolute and should you miss it you will have to wait a full year for your next opportunity to take advantage of these property tax discounts.

Both exemptions require that at least one homeowner be at least 65 years of age and that the property be their primary residence.  For the Enhanced STAR the earned household income cannot exceed $92,000.00.  For the Senior or Aged STAR reduction the income limits are set by the municipality.  Check with your local Tax Assessor or Tax Receivers office to determine whether you qualify for this discount as well.
